Ten things on Tuesday

1. My shuffle board team won 3 games in one night! We basically doubled our record. It was a big deal for us…and I guess winning is more fun then loosing…who knew!

2. Adam has decided to join Ultimate League this spring after taking a few years off. I’m glad he’s getting out and doing stuff with the guys and getting some exercise.

3. At some point last week Charlie started say uh uh and shaking her head. No idea who at daycare taught her this…but you ask her a question she’ll let you know right away…she doesn’t want to do it! Great.

4. Adam’s Aunt Diane and Uncle Barry stopped by late Friday for a quick visit.  They live in IL and were visiting family…so it was nice they could see us and spend some time with Charlie, who loved Uncle Barry’s beard!

5.  Saturday I got to go on my first Charlie shopping spree! I realized she didn’t have but 2 pairs of shorts and hardly any summer clothes. Since she has gotten so many hand me downs and gifts I haven’t really had a reason to go shopping for her…man it was fun!

6. Charlie loves the alphabet. I found her reading her abc book in her room and you could just tell she was trying to say her alphabet and pointing at the letters. Also if you sing the ABC song she breaks out into smiles and dance! LOVES It! Thank you Ms. Jones!!

7. Charlie's vocabulary is slowly growing. On top of Ball (her 1st real word) she says apple (which doesn’t mean apple, she thinks they’re a ball and will throw them) bru bru for Bruiser the dog. Uh oh if she drops something and most recently bye bye…said to me as I was leaving for work. My heart exploded.

8. My mom and dad arrived Sunday for a 1 week visit. We headed straight to the beach and have been busy everyday since! Charlie loves having them here.

9. Grandpa taught Charlie yes and to nod her head. It’s not as common as uh uh…but it’s a start in the right direction!! Thanks DAD!

10. Last week we found out that Adam was a victim of tax fraud. Somebody tried to file taxes using his info…luckily they IRS flagged it (That’s how we found out…they sent us paper work saying they were reviewing our return…which we hadn’t filed yet!) So while Adam was at work I worked at getting things in order to make sure no more harm would be done…and we could still get our return!  Not fun…but better then finding out too late that someone got our return!

10 Things on Tuesday

1. Charlie is quite smart for someone who doesn’t talk. We found one of her shoes out in the living room and she picked it up. I asked her “where do your shoes go Charlie? Can you put it away?” And she proceeded to walk into her room and place it under her dresser with the rest of them. After I picked myself off the floor I told her “good job"!

2. My mom and dad showed up Thursday night Smile Charlie and I met them at the airport and she gave them the welcoming they flew 1300 miles to see; big smiles and hugs. She knows her grandma and grandpa.

3. Adams Grandma was in the hospital last week. We all had quite a scare as they said there was nothing more to do and where calling in hospice. But in the end they found out she had a few deficiencies, watched her and let her go home yesterday. Hospice is still going to come help out because her dementia is getting pretty bad. Thank you to all of you who prayed for her.

4. In an effort to be more thrifty and green we purchased some refillable food pouches.  We haven’t made any yet, but if you have tips please share! Charlie has finally learned how to suck them down and not squirt them all over herself.

5. Speaking of food…don’t think she likes salmon. We were out to eat and she had mac n cheese (which she was eating good) so I snuck a piece of salmon in there. It went in her mouth, one chew and out it came. Oh well…maybe next time!

6. Saturday we had a fun day traveling to Orlando to see the Blue Man group. We had won tickets at Adam’s Christmas party.  The show was neat, my mom and dad REALLY enjoyed it. Charlie and Adam watched from the lobby since she wasn’t willing to wear her pink earphones grandpa bought her. Everyone had a good time and there were 3 people asleep in the back on the way home!

7. On our way to Orlando we stopped off in Lakeland. I had only been one other time, but I remembered it being a cute town with a nice downtown and knew mom would like it. They actually had a farmers market going on so we had fun shopping and finding treasures and treats. And poor Charlie got soaking wet feet from the ground still wet after the rain. He pink shoes bleed all over her tights and feet!! We had to stop and buy her new shoes since the leather was soaked. She officially has Wal-mart shoes.

8. Sunday we went to church downtown. I really love that church, it’s so beautiful. Afterward we discovered a farmer market and a cheese guy from Chicago! mmmm We stocked up on cheese for the big game before heading across the street for fun at the park and ice cream! Charlie loves playing at the park and being free to run around. She’s such a friendly little girl and wants to discover all she can. Truly a joy watching her.

9. We lowered Charlie’s crib to the last spot last night. She won’t be able to climb out of this (not that she was trying) for a long time. But it’s still sad to thing the next step is toddler bed!!!

10.  This morning Charlie was up before I got in my shower. So she hung out with dad for a bit while I got ready . Next thing I know Adam is back in our room sans Charlie. He told me she went into her room, pulled on the crib posts and pointed in there. So he put her in she grabbed her frog and just sat there. He turned out the lights and she stayed in there another 10 min! I guess she wasn’t ready to get up!

Ten things Tuesday

1. We try when we can to eat dinner as a family as much as possible, but a lot of the times Charlie starts before we sit down. However we always pray. On Tuesday night Charlie was already eating, but Adam and I sat down and began to pray. Charlie looked at both of us, stopped eating and clasped her hands. it was so sweet.
2. Charlie has taken a liking to oranges. she can’t wait for us to peel and deseed the next piece before she starts asking for it. the girl with inhale a tangerine faster than we can peel it. On the down side to this I’ve found out that tangerines stain. booo.
3. Charlie has learned how to blow kisses. Adam did it once when he was sick and couldn’t kiss her and she started to mimic him; the sound and hand. Now she’ll do it every so often and it’s so cute.
4. I was long overdue for a haircut/color. So I went all out and got 5-6” cut off and a completely new color. I wanted Marissa Tomei’s hair from Parental Guidance…and I think I got it! ya for new me Smile
5. Our shuffle board team won their first ever game last week! Ivee and Greta were the winning team. We’re still in the bottom of the rankings, but we’re having fun!
6.  Saturday Charlie and I tried out a Gymboree class; Play and Learn. She was so excited to see their set up and explore the room. The class was ok, not sure we’ll go back just yet, But boy does Charlie have no fear! she was climbing on anything and everything and laughing and running. She even found the cutest little boy in the class and sat next to himSurprised smile
7. Sunday was a play date with Adeline. The girls are so cute together, but we found out that Elmo was not something Adeline wanted to share. Uh oh…they’re already fighting over the most popular boy.
8. Adam and I watched the movie Cloud Atlas.  It was long, but interesting. Not sure I grasped all of the concepts, I think Adam did more than me, but overall it makes you think about events in life and how we’re all connected. If I had an extra 3 hours I’d watch it again…but I don’t. Oh well.
9. We have a busy few weeks coming up. Mom and Dad will be her Thursday and I have friends from Michigan and Joe & Jen coming next week! I wish I could say we spend the weekend cleaning the house, but we didn’t. Charlie and I went shopping after our class Saturday and walked the mall doing all things girly, perfume, purse and make up shopping! I got home and Adam asked if I had a new boyfriend to go with my new look…I said, Just trying to keep it interestingWinking smile
10. I found out today that a cousin has cancer. That's never good news, but it’s good that they caught it early and are taking action! Please pray for her and a complete recovery!  On a happier note we found out another cousin is getting married and having a baby! That makes 6 weddings in the next 12 months. Yikes. Life is busy, but we must cherish every moment and make it count because you never know what God has in store for you.

Ten things Tuesday

Well I haven’t done one of these in FOREVER! But, in no particular order here goes:
1. Charlie discovered slides. We took her to a park downtown Sunday before last and she had a riot! She would squeal all the way down, then try to climb back up. She really loves being outdoors. I wish we had a yard for her…soon.
2. My book club joined the shuffle board league. We had our first game on Wednesday night. Adam and Charlie came out to support. I think we scored a whopping 7 points one game. But we had fun, that’s all that matters. 1524762_10151944562992746_776161712_n
3. Adam cooked his first roast chicken last night. it was super moist and yummy. I think he should do this more often Winking smile

4. Sunday Charlie and I drove from Naples to Winter Haven to watch Adam play in his first Ultimate tournament in 1.5 years!! I can’t believe it’s been that long. We all had fun and hope to get him out on the field more often.

5. Friday Charlie and I headed down to Naples to visit Stephanie and her 3 boys. We had fun playing with them and exploring their great children's museum, C’mon! We hope to go back sooner than later!

6. We got our first Nephew! Wesley Xavier was born January 9th. We are so excited to meet him next month!

7. While driving from Naples to Winter Haven I was able to enjoy a scenic route with little to no traffic and have the nicest 2.5 car ride I’ve had in a long time. As much as I love the convenience a city provides, I realized I am a country mouse and I’m longing to get back to simpler things.
8. Charlie got a few care packages last week and one contained a leapfrog laptop. The girl was EXCITED!! She knew just what to do and banged away on the keyboard. come to find out Ms. Jones has a bunch of these…so it wasn’t her first time at the rodeo, but mom was still impressed.

9. Adam is reading a book!!! I about fell out of bed when I found out he wasn’t looking at sports scores. He’s reading Treasure Island on his tablet…and has been for a few nights. He said he didn’t mention it because he knew I’d make a big deal, which I did! I’ve never seen him read a book!!!

10. Charlie is growing up too fast. She is starting to try and use silverware at the table and won’t let you feed her at all! She is so independent. When we go for walks she will rarely hold your hand, and she takes stairs like she’s 4’ tall; up and down! It has just been amazing watching the little person come out of that tiny body. She is such a joy and we are so very thankful.

Ten On Tuesday

1. Adam had a birthday last week. We celebrated with presents in the morning and a steak dinner and cake in the evening. He had a good day! Then i fell apart…

2. Tuesday night i had an anxiety attack (again) and i didn’t sleep well. At all. I ended up going home after lunch from work on Wednesday to get some rest. But i still didn’t feel well. So my friend Kristi came over to help with Charlie since Adam had to work that night.

3. Thursday I felt a little better and was able to watch Charlie.  She is sure moving around now. Speed crawler and loves to try and pull all the books off her book shelf.

4. Friday I felt almost normal and finally was able to eat real food! Jimmy johns. But then i fell apart when I got home. So we all loaded up and went to the beach for sunset. It was Charlie’s first time in the ocean and playing in sand. She had a ball and I felt normal for an hour.

5. Saturday I woke up feeling worse. I called my OB and he suggested I take the medicine my GP prescribed. I did and started to feel better. Charlie and I spent the day in St. Pete with Tara and Adeline.

6. Tara got a sitter for the girls so we went and got pedicures and manicures.  It was nice to relax.

7. Tara & I also hit up an estate sale. It was weird going through someone's house and stuff…but i found some old stationary and a piano book for my mom. I spent a whopping 75 cents!

8. Sunday we checked into the Grand Hyatt. Mommy needed a break and to feel better. We enjoyed the pool and fancy room. Then at 8 Adam and Charlie left and mommy stayed by herself and tried to get some much needed rest.

9. Monday we enjoyed the hotel pool again with Adeline and Tara. Charlie loves the water and loves to splash splash splash! My aunt and uncle, who were flying back from MI, stopped by and spent some time with us before we headed home too.

10. By Tuesday night I was feeling normal again. This is the longest one of these episodes has ever lasted. It was rough. really really hard. I am so thankful for all the help and support I received. Adam has been wonderful stepping up and taking care of Charlie. I really really hope i can get these under control and not have to depend on the medicine. I will see a counselor in a week. I really hope it helps. I don’t have time to “check out” for days at a time!

10 Things

1.  Charlie’s tooth is slowly coming in. She doesn’t seem to phased by it, which is good. I first saw it poke through on 8/12…so it’s taking it’s sweet time.
2.  Charlie's appetite is growing! I know that when she is at Ms. Jones’ house she eats good, but when she’s with us in the evenings and on weekends it’s hit or miss. Well this past week I was feeding her and at one point I thought she was done…but I tried one more bite and she ended up eating a whole jar of peas and 1/2 a jar of something else! Makes me wonder if we’re not feeding her enough!
3.  On the subject of teeth and food…we’re really hoping she’ll get some more teeth so we can start giving her more table food! We didn’t plan on buying her pureed baby food, but since we haven’t been very good at making dinner and they’ve been on BOGO, we’re finding it easier to just give her a jar of food so we know she’s actually eating!
4.  I have an childhood friend who is an artist, Rebecca Ringquist, and when I was on bed rest she mailed me one of her embroidery samplers.  I enjoyed working on it and learning the stitches, but then the baby came and I never finished it.  The past few weeks, needed something new to do, I pulled it out and finally finished it! I even ordered another one from her and created my own design to use as a square on a quilt I hope to someday to for Charlie!

5.  Charlie is really loving pulling herself up and climbing all over us. She’s even getting braver and doing one hand or trying to stand from a crawl position. It won’t be long now…she will be walking! Lord help us.

6.  Last week my friend Tara and her husband Doug opened their brewery in St. Pete! We have gone the last two Friday’s to support them. They only serve Beer and are not done with the interiors, but the beer is good and that’s all that matters!

7.  Saturday night we got a sitter and had a date!! One of my old students, who is now 15 (!!) really wanted to babysit Charlie, so we jumped and had her (and her mom, for the 1st time) come babysit.  Originally were just going to go to the movies, but my friend Kristi got free tickets to the comedy club so we went with her there then finished the night, just the two of us, at Ciro’s Speakeasy.  It was weird to be out w/o her…and we kept talking about her…but it was fun and I hope we can find time to do it again soon.

8.  Sunday we met up with Adam’s cousin and his family who were in town for a baseball game. They have three boys and they loved seeing Charlie and all wanted a chance to hold her. They even gave her a bottle!
2013-08-25 11.48.27
9.  Speaking of bottles, she holds her own bottle at daycare…not so much at home.  We still hold the bottle for her, we know she can do it herself…but she knows that we’ll do it for her! I think we’ve finally come to the decision that our days of cradling her and giving her a bottle are numbered…so we’re just going to enjoy it while we can.
10. Our friends Kris and Paul had their 2nd daughter a few weeks ago.  She was small like Charlie and is still only 7lbs4oz.  So when Kris told me that her 3mo clothes are swimming on her, I jumped at the chance to lend her our NB clothes.  It was so fun pulling out the clothes and thinking back at how tiny Charlie used to be and realizing how big she has gotten.  We were so nervous with her because she was so tiny, but now we just toss her around!  Charlie had fun looking at her old clothes too!

BONUS!!!
11. Today is Adams Birthday! Happy 34 to the love of my life! We will be celebrating at home with a steak dinner, cake and presents.
